I'm Dana Maree!

Growing up, “The New Complete Book of Self Sufficiency” by John Seymour was practically a religious text in our house.

Having water heated by the range, collecting chicken’s eggs and chasing animals around the paddock in your slippers was just how it was done. These were as normal to me as celebrating Yule, reading tarot and using herbal medicine.

As I got older and had my own children, I knew there were cycles of generational trauma I wanted to break – I wanted them to know what a safe home felt like. I also struggle with my neurodiversity at times (f**k dishes!) while being devoted to the Norse Goddess of the Domestic Arts, Frigg, which still seems like a universal prank to me.

However, they’re all a part of who I am and the life I knew I wanted to embrace for my family.

Now, I want to bring you the inspiration that can be taken from simple living and homesteading and capture the lessons you can bring into your own life, no matter where you live.

If you'd like to learn more about working with me, and what it might look like, you can learn more here.

Random Fact #1:

I've lived in 65 houses and counting! I'm incredibly nomadic, even though as a homesteader, this seems counter intuitive. I was born a wanderer.

Random Fact #4:

I am a practicing Pagan Witch, dedicated to the Norse Goddess Frigg, but I was raised with very Celtic influences and honour both my Norse and Celtic ancestors.

Random Fact #7:

I have lived in Australia for 11 years, but due to my nomadic habits, I don't imagine this will be the land I stay on once my children have flown the nest.

Random Fact #2:

I grew up sharing my bed with dogs and cats, my backyard with sheep and goats and my kitchen with chickens - if the door was open and they snuck in.

Random Fact #5:

I'm incredibly neurospicy (Suspected ADHD, ASD and RSD) and have chosen not to go for official diagnosis or use medication, but support those people in my life who have.

Random Fact #8:

I have a fantastic habit of picking up hobbies (see point 5). I sew, knit, spin, crochet, paint, make soap and candles, and anything else I see someone doing and think I can do it too.

Random Fact #3:

I met my partner on a Harry Potter Fan Site when I was 15, and it took 15 years for us to actually get together. We're both Slytherins.

Random Fact #6:

I was born in NZ and my family background includes Orkney, Shetland, Scotland, Ireland, England and Germany.

Random Fact #9:

I wrote and published a book in 12 weeks during the pandemic, and then after soul searching about my journey in life, decided it had done what it was here to do and subsequently unpublished it. It's title was "Now Get Back Up."

I have words, but so do they

Beautiful words from those who have worked with me
